The Importance of the Vertical Focus for Life

Many believe including myself that that 2010 will be even more trying in many ways as compared to 2009. To quote a founding father Thomas Paine (writer of Common Sense) - "These are the times that try men's souls". It is during these times that reliance upon God takes even more importance. If we can internalize the following nine points:

(A synopsis of today's main points from today's class given by Rusty Allen):

o- Worship of God leads to a transformed life (Psalm 42:1, Romans 12:2, @cOR 3:18
o- Being speaks of character - Serving God out of devotion (Prov 23:7, Hosea 6:6, Romans 1:9)
o- Short accounts of sin leads to repentance - viewing sin as first and foremost against God (Psalm 51:4; 1John 1:9)
o- Contentment in God himselfl deep seated joy despite circumstances (2Cor 8:2, Phil 4:11)
o- Zero tolerance for those things abhorrent to God "not onced named among you" (ephesians 5:3, 1John 3:21)
o- All ground is sacred ground - one spirit and mind (1Cor 10:31, Phillipians 1:27)
o- Spiritual success measured by anointing on a life - service driven by prayer and meditation (Psalm 5:3, 1Timothy 4:15, 1 John 2:27)
o- Divine motivation - for His glory (Psalm 86:12, Revelation 4:11)
o- Bold witness to the los (phillipians 1:20)
