Day 20 - Current Events - Scott Brown Wins Senate Seat Vacated By Ted Kennedy

In a state where the population is less than 20% Republican, Massachussetts, a Republican has won the seat to replace that of the late Ted Kennedy. It is ironic in that Kennedy has long been an advocate of Universal Health Care and Scott Brown, the new senator, has vowed to fight the health care bill now in the House and Senate. The notable thing about this win is that the Democratic controlled Senate has lost its filibuster proof 60 seat majority. This appears to be the third of key losses for the liberal Democrats, having lost gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey in 2009
