Day 24 - Study of Revelation Resumes

Our teacher Dean is back. Today's lesson contained a quick review of past chapters leading up to the reading of the seventh seal

The Seventh Seal
1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.
2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.
3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, Ex. 30.1 having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, Lev. 16.12 and cast it into the earth: Ezek. 10.2 and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. Rev. 11.19 ; 16.18

Dean underscored the perspective of the severity of the suffering and destruction that is to come in light of the recent happenings in Haiti as a result of the severe quake - and that this is just a miniscule preview of what is to come. However, it was not with the intent of scaring us, but that we should be prepared in the knowledge that God is in control and that we should be encouraged and not discouraged. As John saw the seal judgments unfolding - the wrath of a holy God and his judgment is being poured out as a consequence of sin.
